This is common with ISPs also; for instance ATT's Worldnet service will not
allow their consumer users to access their email via any type of LAN or
other dialup connection other than AT&Ts. User's need to access email via a
web interface. I believe this is due to their firewall. The same probably
applies to your daughter's system.
