This is just in case Joyce has not already done the additional RAM installation AND also to have other members views.


I read somewhere long ago that it minimises the risk of static discharge if one does not start the work immediately after unplugging the power cord. (I, for one have never worked with the power cord plugged in )

what in effect it meant was, that AFTER unplugging the power cord, to let the machine BE for atleast an hour or so. then press the power button (the one in front of the case by which you start up) 2/3 times. this I understood discharged any electricity stored in the capacitors on the mobo.

I really do not know how far this is true but am sure it will not do any damage.

all this ofcourse only if one is not in a tearing hurry.
