Re: my broken Plexwriter

From Plextor America Support Team, same day response! :

>Please disconnect the wide data cable from your drive. Now power up the
>drive with no disc in it. Does the light flash in a pattern now? If not,
>please open it up and put in a commercial audio or CDROM disc (not a blank
>or recordable disc). Does that seem to work ok? If there is no flashing

He goes on to give me a $# for out of warranty service, and to suggest
I buy a newer faster cdrom for just a bit more $.

So, I did as he instructed, with great trepidation, and found that
nothing made any difference. So, it's off to Fry's for me, I guess.

I'm this far into the bowels of my system, shall I just remove the
drive and take in to the shop, and then install the new one myself?

If I do that, I'll be depending on this list to help me survive it! You
guys were right with the diagnosis. Thanks!

What kind should I get?

Diane
