You say that the system runs perfectly fine with the side of the case
removed. Are you sure that when you replace the side of the case, you are
not causing anything to touch and short out? ie: trapping any thing in it? I
would double check that.
Have you tried running it for  quite a while  with the side of the casing
removed?
