You could also add, if necessary, a third party controller card.

I have had good and bad experiences with cards from Promise
(http://www.promise.com), the bad experiences were not
necessarily Promise's fault.  I vaguely recall using either the
following card or its predecessor successfully on one
customer's ancient Pentium with Win 98:
