Hello Anne,

This is an operating system limitation. Windows 98/98SE have a limitation
which prevents them from correctly displaying the capacity of drives larger
than 64GB. It shows the capacity of the drive minus 64GB. For example, if
the drive is 80GB (74GB binary), the capacity is shown as 16GB (10GB
binary). Of course, your drive remains at 80 GB capacity, minus what's used
for formatting, etc., and the data on the drive is not affected.

Microsoft has a fix for the partitioning utility FDISK. I don't know if this
fix will change the way Windows sees the capacity or not. You can check it

I am back again.

Turns out my previous problem was a faulty HDD.

NOW, my problem is working out how to get Win98SE to recognise more than
10gig of my 80 gig HDD.

I know Win98SE will recognise HDD over 40gig, as I have another machine with
40Gig HDD (partitioned) and a second drive of 8gig.

Any suggestions most gratefully accepted.
