Subject: [PCBUILD] Windows start-up and shut down problem

"I am a novice and running Windows 98SE.

When starting Windows, the screen stops at the page where you have the
option to load 1 for Normal, 3 for safe etc. I just choose normal and it
starts up ok then. (It never used to stop there so don't know what I have
done to it). This happens every time when I start the computer."

Try this. Click start, then run. Type msconfig. It comes up with the
"General" tab selected. Click on Advanced (lower left). You will see that
one of the selections in the list is "Enable Startup Menu". If this is
checked, uncheck it. When checked, this will bring up the startup menu every
time you boot windows. Unchecking it should solve the problem.
