It's possible that your hard drives are set to shut off after x amount of
minutes.  to change this setting, go into your display settings either in
control panel or by right clicking anywhere on your desktop and selecting
properties.  Go the the screensaver tab and you will see the power settings
button at the bottom.  Select the button and you will see an option to turn
off hard drives.  Hit the drop down arrow and change this option to "never"
