Autoplay with hard drive

Hi
I installed a 300GB hard drive to my  USB 2.0 port. The jumper was set to slave. It is a Western Digital drive and was installed using Data Lifeguard Tools 11.
The drive does function properly. I am using it to store pictures.
However, my problem is that "autoplay" comes on constantly. It's the same thing you get as when you put a CD disk into your CD drive.
Sometimes it comes on every five minutes. Is there any way to shut this off.
