According to the HP site for this particular machine, (512n) you have two
slots for memory and the maximum that can be supported is a "total" of 512mb
of PC133 SDRAM running at either 100 or 133. Only having two DIMM slots
doesn't give much room for expansion or upgrades.

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/welcome.html

And drilling down in the "Support and trouble shooting" section and
searching for "HP Pavilion 521n Desktop" by drilling down to the specific
page. I would have included the URL however it was too long and wrapped
while typing it.
