I had a persistent, yet intermittent start-up problem with
my wife's computer...  And some minor problems
along the same lines with mine...
(I built then a month apart, they are 2 1/2 years old...)

It turned out, (results are still pending), that the NorthBridge
chipset "active cooling fan" was slow to spin up to full speed,
(if it ever got there at all)... A very minor cooling problem
to be sure, but a real show stopper...

Now I'm looking for a cheap supply of good 40mm x 40mm
x8cfm fans...
