Dawn,

We need a little more information to determine if you should reinstall Win98
SE or upgrade to XP or Windows 2000. The first item we need is more about
your your computer hardware: brand model or motherboard, CPU speed, memory and
other details as much as you can give.

Your HP PSC has several means of connection and if you were using the USB
port I could see this as a problem in Win98 SE. Microsoft doesn't support USB
2.0 in Win98 SE without special cards and if you use a third party driver my
experience is if your motherboard doesn't offer a patch being lucky is more
important than being good. If you used the ethernet port then I would think this
operating system would work fine.

As for reinstalling your current operating system if you have the CD Rom, key
code and any required device drivers (video cards, modem, network cards,
etc.) it is not that hard of a task to accomplish. It does take a while and you
need to study the steps and ask questions here till you are sure you
understand. You must backup and files you want to save if you do a complete install.
You could also just reinstall Win98 SE over the existing hard drive but you
could still have problems without a complete clean install.

I usually hang on to the older operating systems too long but I have been
moving to Windows 2000. XP is the newest but it requires an activation code and
this could be a pain later if you make major system changes.

Good luck,
Mike Scott
