running. Hoe can I do that on Windows 2000? Any idea of the programs that I must

Windows 2000 does not have the msconfig utility that Win98 has. However, if
you type "services.msc" in the command prompt box, you will see the loaded
programs for Win2000. Be careful here, as some of the components need to be loaded
for that OS to operate properly. If you right click on any of the programs
listed, you can choose one of three options. Windows will load them
"automatically, manual or disabled." My one recommendation is to disable Windows
Messenger. This is not the same as Microsoft's messenger service, but is intended as a
way to communicate in a corporate environment on a LAN. However, it ends up
being subjected to misuse where you mostly end up with annoying pop-ups for
messages you don't want. Other than that, a web site called Black Viper can give
you some insight on what services you can alter if you wish, depending on your
individual requirements. Hope this helps.
