Hi,

With today's new boards by simply plugging in a new PCI or AGP card
The BIOS will auto detect it and shut down the board video.

If you're dealing with an older board, you may have to move a jumper on
the main board

As mentioned below, you should go into the Bios and adjust the Bios
setting for the correct type of card. Even if it's an on board video
you usually will have the settings set as AGP, because the new boards
today use AGP video when on board video is installed.

Thanks and have a Great Day!

Joe Lore

What are the proper procedures to disabling the onboard video to use an
AGP
card.

You have to boot into your bios settings and change the primary video
choice
to AGP instead of onboard. Look through the bios settings and you should
find
it. But you have to install the AGP card/driver first.
