AMD next generation CPU's will be 3D enabled chips, and will run on a 100
mhz bus. Today there are few, if any 100mhz bus boards available, thet will
run 100mhz bus speeds. So, it will probably be a while yet. There is a new
chip set out by AMD, that is the AMD630 chipset that looks very promising.
It is based on the VIA Apollo Chipset, and comes with a 1meg L2 cache. I
understand the next generation will support upto 2 meg. It also supports
many of the features of the LX chipset, such as Soft Power, and UDMA
support. The only drawback that I can see, is that it only supports 83mhz
bus speed max, so you would still need to buy a new board in the future to
support the AMD 3D CPU's.

So... Your VX, is pretty much out of the question. Since it will only
support about 75 mhz bus speed....
