NDD to the rescue once more.

I scanned for viruses - none found.  I then ran Norton and it rebuilt the MBR and the partition tables.  All better!

Thanks for all the help.  I wish they were all that easy.

P.S.
He has Norton Utilities installed but never created a rescue disk.  There is now one with his computer!!
