Mark:

I have had such problems with Seagates so I won't use or
recommend them when they are NOT on the Primary
IDE Channel. I can only surmise they contend with drives
on the Primary Channel by asserting their "rights" on
certain systems.  <g>

I recommend you slave the Seagate on the Primary Channel
and move that drive to the master position on the Secondary
IDE Channel. Should work. That will really scramble the order
of your drive letters, though.
