I have recently acquired an Asus P6NP5 Pentium Pro motherboard. I intend
to install Linux on it . I cannot get the MB to recognize a CD-Rom
drive. I have scoured the manual for settings, I have put it on the
Secondary IDE Channel, The Primary IDE Channel. I have set the IDE
position to Auto, I have set it to nothing. It sees the CD drive and
identifies it correctly. It says it is a mode 3 drive. It will not read
from it. Boot attempts result in failure, read attempts are the same. I
have tried two different CD Rom drives.

I am out of ideas. Any help?

TIA.
