Have you tried www. pricewatch.com?  You get a very good idea of your
options when you look at all the mobos, cpus, etc. for sale.  You can do a
lot with $600, so it is difficult to make suggestions.  I like just poking
around to see what stuff is available and for what price.  What cpu did you
want?  Regarding the videocard, I think you should the AGP card for no
other reason than it is a better video card vs PCI.  I guess if you don't
play games, it doesn't matter.
