Hi:

you need to get something equivalent to an adaptec 2906 SCSI (pci)card
which you should find new in the $50-75 range.  A generic equivilent would
be a lot cheaper from lSI or sysbios for instance.

Make sure what ever card you get, your sons's machine has a slot available
to use.  You might find a used ISA card if he has a slot to use it in for
under $20.00
