On Compaq computers F10 is the key to push to enter Bios, right after the
two beeps (which is also a compaq "idiom").
Sounds like the reason the computer stops is because it doesn't recognize
the new hard drive. Getting into the bios should help--if the computer
doesn't automatically detect the new hard drive you will need to enter them
manually, of course.
