[log in to unmask]  suggested that it could "be power supply, either the one
in the case, or one
of the regulators on the motherboard".

I've also received a suggestion that the error message I quoted  relates to
a dead/dying CMOS battery, and a replacement might be the fix.  I'm
currently on-the-road so it'll be some days before I get back to that
headache.
