Does the Apple allow for use of a gateway server if so a proxy wouldn't be
needed.
Sygate is one of the best around. The only draw back is that the server has
to
be a PC but should work with the MAC just fine.

I use it on with the little network to allow my parents access (dial out,
not cable) to
the internet through their computer.  I tried using proxys buy they never
worked right
When I tried Sygate it worked.

It's very simple to setup and use.  Its great for a direct connection to the
net
and works with most cable modems (only 2 way cable).
