I re-installed a 33.6 NewCom fax/modem in a clients pc. The modem and
all hardware resources seem to be working fine now.

When shutting down  the PC with either the Shut down the computer or
Restart the computer box checked, the error message "Windows Protection
Error. You Need To Restart Your Computer". Press Any Key. After pressing

the space bar, the Its Safe To Shut Off Your Computer screen comes up.

Has anyone else had similar problems? What is the best way to correct
the above problem?

The pc is a Pachard Bell 486DX2-66 Legend 20CD. It has 20mb memory,
420mg HD, CD-rom, 33.6 int. modem
