Hello Eric;

    I'm going through much the same dilemma as you. I have two systems that show their
NICs as being installed and functioning properly. I took both NICs to the vendor where
they have a peer-to-peer with a hub. The cards worked fine. We even tested another ISA
card (for my 486) which I then took home thinking it would be the most troublesome
compared to the PCI Kingston card I had in the newer system.
    I received many helpful replies, both on and off the list. One experienced person
suggested that he had seen systems such as ours never work, until a hub was used. He
was not sure of the cause, but said that a hub had solved this problem many times.
Several others either echoed his comments, or suggested a hub as "the better option".
    I'm getting a 4-port hub later this week and I'll post my results.
    Pertaining to your specific problem, did you set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
for your TCP/IP component, or are you using NetBEUI? I tried both, with the same
unhappy results. Also, did you check all the bindings? I'm sure you did, but since
they weren't mentioned...
    Good Luck
