Hello Listers:

The computer: intel PIII, 500MHz, 20Gb free disk space, 256 Mb RAM, 3Com
Etherlink 10/100 PCI (3C905C-TX), Win98SE, no conflicts in Devise Manager.
The computer has both PS/2 mouse (functional, but rarely used) and a
Cruise Cat Touchpad connected to the only serial port Com1.
The computer has access to 2 printers: one on LPT1 and the network
printer using HP JetDirect (printer server) with its own IP number.

The problem: once or twice a week the keyboard, touchpad and mouse stop
responding. When it happens the pointer of the touchpad can still be moved
around ( at least for a while), but no clicks are possible. Alt-ctrl-del
does not work. Leaving the computer to 'unfreeze itself' does not work.
The only way to have it back is by pressing the power button. After reboot
everything behaves normally.

Most frequently the pointing devise&keyboard freeze happen after printing
(successfull) to the remote printer, but sometimes also during browsing
the web or opening telnet or during copy/paste.

Any advise ?

TIA, Irena. [log in to unmask]
