Hi Rob

Sorry this isn't going to help much, but at least you will know you are not alone. I too have a Umax flatbed scanner, the Astra 1220P. It to has the exactly same problem as yours, and I do exactly as you do. I have tried reinstalling the latest software, disconnecting the power etc and all to no avail. I recently tried to connect the scanner to a PC with Windows XP Pro installed. I spoke with Umax tech support and was directed to a site which had the correct driver, all of the information was in German, but after using Babel to translate it I got the gist and installed the driver. This completely destroyed XP, so I re-formatted etc and had another go, with exactly the same results! Enough was enough so I now only use the scanner on the Win98se machine. What with that and with the green band problem I think I am going to have
to buy a new scanner, needless to say it won't be a Umax!
Regards Noel
