Hi Jim

If you are going to the trouble to mess with replacing the mobo in a
Dimension XPS (I had the 700 for some time), I think you might run into
problems all over (underpowered PS for one thing). I would recommend
spending some more and getting something that would make your labors more
satisfying. Alternatively, if you like what you have and Dell wants $149 for
the board, it might be worth it to save yourself the trouble and one-stop
shop from them. At least you'll get a warranty.

If you registered your system with Dell you should be able to get the info
on the board. You might also look inside the box and see what information
exists that is easily accessed directly on the PS.

One final thought: If you're replacing the mobo with a dell board, it
probably will work with the machine specs as delivered when new.
