I have a Dell latitude CPI laptop, 300 MHz P2, 128 MB RAM that was given to me without an OS. Can't seem to load Win98SE. Partitioned and formated the HD. Made the HD a system disk with the SYS C: command and then with the format C: /s command. Then copied all the files from the boot disk to the HD. Thought once I did that the computer would boot from the HD, ask if I wanted to boot with CD support and I should be good to go. I know the CD drive works but the computer does not seem to recognize the CD drive. Have built several desktop computers but am not familiar with laptops where the floppy and CD drives can not be installed both at the same time. Wondering if I need to use the disk copy command so the hidden files from the boot disk to the HD.

Thanks,

Tom
