You can start by seeing if the connection is enabled:
Go to Start/Settings/Network Connections. Open it and your LAN connection
should show. It should say "Enabled". If not, right-click it and check
"Enable". You can also check in Device manager to see that the NIC is
enabled.If no LAN connection shows you may need to check with your ISP or
use their install disk.
