The first thing that I would do is make sure that the ide cables and power cables to the hard drives have
not come loose. If you are getting video, this is the most probable culprit.

It is not clear, but your description seems to indicate that you are not getting video. Usually there is
a beep code associated with the system being unable to locate the video card. If no video, I would pull
the card and re-seat it on the hopes that would fix it. It seems a bit strange that you would have no
video and yet get to a "boot attempt" error message, but that may be how your system works.

Since you built it yourself, try taking out everything but the minimum necessary to boot. (If you have
more than one drive, make sure that the boot drive is set master or single when you do this.) If it
boots, add pieces (cd, floppy, modem, etc.) one-by-one until it no longer boots.

(It would really help if you had a known good video card to swap with the old one.)

Somebody more familiar with the Epox will likely be able to help more.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Win XP will not boot

I built a gaming system running Win XP Home Edition, and using an Epox 8RDA+ motherboard. The system
worked great, and I used it for about 3 months before boxing it up for a move.

Today I pulled the system out to fire it back up after about 6 months of sitting in a non climate
controlled environment in FL, and the system would not boot. It powers up, the DVD and floppy drives get
power, and the 80 Port Debug LED runs through some POST codes, and stops on FF, Boot attempt.

My question is twofold.

1. What are the chances that I damaged the motherboard/video card/etc. by storing the system in a shed
where the temperature and humidity were not controlled while the system was not connected to power?

2. If the hardware is not damaged, what should I attempt first to diagnose the problem, and get the s
ystem booted?

Thanks for any help.

Kevin
