UDMA66 specification requires a UDMA controller and a
UDMA66 data ribbon cable, (40pin/80connector): see:

The hard drive is backwardly compatible and will run as a UDMA33
drive or in PIO4 or lower mode depending on the controller and
motherboard.  In other words, the drive will work as an IDE device
and transfer data as fast as the least compatible item involved in
the hardware connection.
