  While 802.11a supports higher speeds, I'm told that it also uses up
baterry life much faster, and so far the gear itself is still
noticably more expensive than 802.11b stuff.

  Note also that a big part of the use of this is sharing an Internet
connection.  Our three campuses, collectively serving about 50,000
students, faculty, and staff, don't collectively have 52Mbps of
Internet connectivity, so I doubt that Larry's client's house has
anywhere near that.

  We've begun to install a few 802.11a services around campus.  We're
more likely to deploy 802.11a as an alternative to backbone wire
links in a few cases, than to offer it directly to end user devices.
