blank monitor after POST

I have an old 133 IBM Aptiva 2176-C33 with a IBM G40 monitor.The machine

had 16MB of SIMMS running Win 95a.I put in 64MB of SIMMS
memory,formatted the hard drive ,installed OS2 ,which worked fine.I then
installed the Win98 upgrade.Everything worked fine after rebooting with
the initial
install.I then rebooted the computer and after the POST and the Win98
splash screen the monitor went blank.
 I am assuming this is a driver problem but how can I install drivers or
anything else with a blank screen.The screen works during POST then goes
completely blank after the Splash screen.
