The tech guys in my school district have been using GHOST (General Hardware
Oriented System Transfer) for about a year now. The key terms are Hardware
Oriented. They claim that it should be used only on systems that are nearly
identical--particularly w/Win95. They had several systems rendered useless
when they 'ghosted' a standard hard disk load from a machine with one
motherboard to one with a different motherboard. It seems this sort of
hardware sensitivity *may* extend to 15 vs. 16 heads on a hard disk, while
the mboard issue is moot, as, I assume, you are using a single motherboard
for the task.

[My speculation] yes, the head difference could be the problem. As for
reformat, I'm not certain, however; it is possible that if both drives are
configured as 15-head (and the correct capacity is seen by CMOS when the IBM
is so configured), you may be able to 'ghost' the drive again
(successfully), since ghost formats as it goes.

Don't want to even hazard a guess on the CMOS question.
