I've had similar problems with serial mice. I believe the previous reply
might have been referring to the PC / MS switch found on the bottom of mice
that sport Mouse System Mouse compatibility. These mice will work best in
the PC/AT mode, unless you have Mouse System's Mouse Power drivers &
software. Also, make sure your com port is enabled in the bios. Many com
ports in current computers are enabled/disabled automatically in the bios,
esp. if you have an internal modem. If this continues to be an issue, a
possible alternative that I've used is a bus mouse & card.
