A HUB is like a party line. Everything goes everywhere
and it can all crash into each other during starts and stops...

A SWITCH directs things down certain wires to certain
locations. This alone makes things faster, but they are
also "often" more advanced and can run at faster base
speeds too.

Your Router might be a HUB or a SWITCH. I'm not sure...
(Unless you have lots of traffic you may never care...)
