  Clean the chrome carriage bar and the encoder strip, the skinny
plastic strip. I sometimes wipe a little lubrication (silicon spray) on
the carriage bar. If your gear cogs are going out or the service motor
is failing then you might be facing a professional repair ($70 for
gears...probably the trash heap if the motor goes bad). I bet your
squeak is from the carriage bar. HP support advises against carriage bar
lubrication by the way so let your conscience be your guide. *;-)
