I believe it depends on the cable.  Some cables are marked
'master' and 'slave' at the connectors.  They usually have a small
hole punched in the cable as well.  This is used for CS or 'Cable
Select' settings.  Otherwise, the position does not matter, it's
controlled by the jumpers on the hard drives.
