IBM/Western Digital (and Others) all have the S.M.A.R.T. tech on their hard
drives. D/l EZ-SMART.EXE (1mb) from IBM's web site,
http://www.storage.ibm.com/techsup/hddtech/welcome.html ,
Data Life Guard Tools, http://www.wdc.com/service/diagnostics.html,
If you are not on a "network", it is/has been recommended in other
newsgroups, that you should disable this feature because it is a Network
Administrators tool. HTH. :-)
