Hello - I'm wondering if anyone has seen this.

I recently encountered a minor dilemma in our computer lab. The lab machines are running WinXP Pro, & Office XP Pro on a Novell Netware network.

We have 3 printers in the lab, an HP Laserjet 5, HP Deskjet 1120C, and an HP Deskjet 870Cxi, all connected to the network with Jetdirect print servers.

The problem is when printing from Office apps, and we try to send multiple copies to either of the Deskjets, only one copy comes out. The only way we can print multiple copies is to send the job multiple times. It does print each time it is sent but 3 copies will not come out if you select '3' in the print pop up window - only one. This happens both when logged in with Administrator rights and as a restricted user.

But, we CAN send multiple copies in one print job to the Deskjets from a web browser and they will all come out.

We can send mutiple copies to the Laserjet 5 from anything (Office & IE) and they will come out. So this issue is specific to the Deskjets and the only difference is that they are connected with External Jetdirects (LJ5 is internal).

The HP site indicates that the most current printer drivers are included in WinXP OS. I uninstalled the print drivers/reinstalled them with no luck. I tried the 2K driver for the 1120C and it did work as Administrator, but ran into problems with the driver when logging in as a student(restricted user).

I searched the web including (HP & MS sites) and didn't see any reference to this problem. I don't think it is a Novell issue since all three are queue based printers.

Thanks,
Dan Kucherich

(PS - I was advised to send to PCBUILD rather than PCSOFT)
