Also, don't rule out the hard disk.

I have a dual CPU (P-III) system that from almost day one would randomly freeze,
or spontaneously reboot. I checked everything, tried new memory, removing one
CPU, swapping CPU's etc. I ran full disk surface scans and all as well.

The problem got progressively worse, it would start crashing with a BSOD a
couple times a day. The real clue more recently was that sometimes the disk
started making noises, and would ocassionally fail to be recognized on a soft
reboot.

I swapped the disk out, and the system has been up solid for a month now.
