About the RAMBUS: I'm only speaking from memory, but
I distinctly recall that after customers (computer makers, not
the end-users) set up a huge hue and cry about RAMBUS
(marginal performance benefit, way over-priced, &c.) Intel
backed down and said the P-IV would be set up to work
with 'regular' memory as well.

tomshardwareguide has been ranting and raving about the
evils of RAMBUS for some time now --- I'm pretty sure he'll
have the right info on this, even if I don't.
