PCBUILD Digest - 10 Nov 2006 to 11 Nov 2006 (#2006-283)Subject: TRANSFER FROM DESKTOP TO LAPTOP

I have a new Dell Inspiron B130 XP Home OS. I want to transfer files AND related program applications from my Dell Dimension 2400 desk top. I'm looking at Laplink PC Mover and Stompsoft Easy PC Transfer. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations with either or both of these programs? Additionally, it is my understanding that these programs transfer virtually everything, with no selectivity by the user. Is there a program out there that allows the user to transfer only selected applications and files. The ability to transfer program applications is crucial since I don't have some of my older program disks. Thanks in advance for any assistance by the members of the forum.

I purchased and used a program, "Intellimover," for just that purpose. I was able to individually choose which programs I wanted to transfer. It worked well, and came with everything necessary to accomplish the task.
