This is my first post to the list. Added another harddrive to existing
windows 95 installation.
HD1 is WD 3gig and HD2 is Maxtor 1.2 gig. Immediately began getting the
windows protection error and could only get into safe mode. The only
combination that eventually worked but still get windows protection error
on shutdown is with the maxtor drive set up as secondary slave! At least I
can get in and stay in windows95.

I dont even have smartdrive  on the system let alone using it.
I downloaded and installed rmm fix..didn't help.

using piix4 busmastering drivers

motherbd is dfi 430tx using award bios at "failsafe" settings

using 64M sdram

I ran spinrite on clean boot and it gets hung up in 2nd hd!

dual boot with windows nt4 with no problems reading/writing both drives.

Very strange problem and wonder if anyone else has run into this. Perhaps
there is an icompatability I need to know about.

Probably something simple..
