I'm in the process of trying to get online with Ubuntu10.04. While
searching for network hardware info for the motherboard (in Ubuntu), I
see it lists the motherboard as Soyo.
The actual mobo is Asus.

I have three hard drives. 1st is where Win xp is loaded, 2nd is just
for storing files and the 3rd is a newer drive that I loaded Win7 on
(though I've accidentally reformatted it and now use it for files).
The hd with xp did come from a pc with a Soyo mobo but I thought, when
I installed Win xp it would have reformatted the whole drive. Would
there have been a partition that was left over from the previous pc
with the old info on it? and, if so, can it be corrected without
causing a major malfunction?

I don't seem to have the needed drivers to connect to the internet
(direct connection) with Ubuntu but how can I download them if it sees
the wrong mobo info?

 Totally confused!
