Russ,

sfc /scannow gives me an error:

Windows File Protection could not initiate a scan of protected systen files.
The specific error code is 0x000006ba. (The RPC  server is unavailable).

I've unchecked Show Hidden Files and Folders which were enabled on her
computer but it made no diffrerence.
