Dear Pete,
Hold up your diskette to the light. You will see two empty squares on the
top of the diskette. One of those squares has a slider on one side.
Using your fingernail, move that slider so that the open hole is closed. Be
sure to move it enough, so that it "snaps" into position.
Now, push your diskette into the drive, with the label side facing up and
close to you. When it is nearly in, give it a good push, so that it clicks
into position. You should hear a faint click as it does so.
Try once more to save to the diskette.
