I waited a few days before I posted this, but ever  since the ScanDisk problem
has been corrected, removing BlackIce, this computer has been shutting down with
out a problem, which was what brought me here in the first place. Also found
that the only way for me to stop BlackIce from writing to drive was to use the
"stop BlackIce engine" command THEN exit the program.
