Mark,

Check your core voltage jumper.
I believe the K6-2 should be set at 2.1 volts.

I recently upgraded from a K6-2/300 to a K6-3/450 and forgot to "up" the
voltage.  I too, had video weird-ities like lock ups and windows with
white boxes for toolbar buttons and all kinds of odd display problems.

After I set the voltage correctly, it has run rock-solid ever since.
